Following a Bloomberg report overnight suggesting Rockstar Games will debut the first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer next month, the team has confirmed that is indeed the plan. In a series of Twitter posts, the official Rockstar Games account said: "We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you."
The early December period is traditionally when The Game Awards takes place, with this year's ceremony slated for 8th December 2023. However, given Rockstar's track record for doing its own thing, it's quite likely the trailer will simply be uploaded on a random day rather than being bundled into a showcase.
Grand Theft Auto reveal trailers have always gone down as all-timers in the past, usually introducing the setting and a general tone and mood rather than specific story details. We may also be introduced to the protagonists as well, widely speculated to be a take on Bonnie and Clyde. What do you want to see? Let us know in the comments below.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s world is insanely detailed. I’m so excited to see what they can do with the current gen consoles and a modern setting.
I’m expecting a teaser with a silhouette of the numerals VI to avoid any disappointment
82k likes on that tweet within 15 minutes. I think people might be excited for GTA 6
Years of trailers no doubt. The GTA boat has sailed for me. No longer a day one purchase unlike the previous entry's in the series.
Sam hauser is a good 3 point shooter for my boston Celtics 💚🖤.but this sam houser is a legend 👑 for rockstar.anyways its going to be special.a early Christmas present for us who enjoy video games.bring on grand theft auto 6.word up son
@GuyInDirtyShirt Gonna put your foot in your mouth and when gameplay hits lol I’m irritated by the wait as well but I know it’ll be worth it..
I’m ecstatic and I’ve never played a day of GTA Online in my life.. the single player is gonna be 🔥
Rockstar is the best studio.
I just hope they put as much love into the single player as they do GTA online.
I just wish the game really features a female protagonist, i want to watch the meltdown from incels, please Rockstar.
@Bentleyma hope some decent single player experience. The world itself and activities in story mode aside from main quests were dull and almost dead.
Hope GTA6 is something more than GTA Online 2
I’ve never really cared much for GTA even though I do play all of them. With that said, it’s always exciting when we know we’re getting a first look trailer at their new game. I love all of the video breakdowns people do. This is exciting.
@Rioichi they put a chick in it and made her gay 😎 .. and lame
I haven't spend not even a single second in GTA Online but the single player is another beast I will be there!
Some mid incoming 🔥🔥🔥
@WolfyTn Panderverse reference! Kudos
Let’s goooooooooooo!
I'll probably get suckered into buying this one as well. I loved the games up until V, but I just couldn't stand the playable characters in that so I never managed to get more than a little ways into the main missions before giving up in disgust. Tried three times with the same result and even now my brain is suggesting that I should probably try again... stupid brain...
I can’t believe that it is finally happening rockstar are easily one of the best studios especially when it comes to attention to detail in there games
BLOODY FINALLY
I'm not even that interested in GTA 6 myself (still have yet to play the series as a whole) but my god the amount of times I saw 'GTA 6 LEAKED!?!?!?!?!?!?' on social media made me want to tear my hair out I swear XD
Personal gripes aside, it's gonna be great to finally see it in proper action and I'm highly curious as to how 'next-gen' it'll truly be when it's been in development for as long as it has 😃
also: 'early December' eh? I think I might have a hunch as to when it'll be shown off....
@Fizza The E3 terminator himself.
I have a hard time believing that GTA6 will live up to the expectations and anticipation built up for it over the last decade. I can see this game disappointing a lot of people, even if it turns out to be very good.
I hope I’m wrong! 🙏🤞But I think people should temper their excitement a bit, lest we get another Starfield or Cyberpunk 2077. It would be nice if this ended up more like a Balder’s Gate 3 situation.
HYPE. Also interesting that he doesn't explicitly name it as GTA VI.
It’s far too early to feel hyped for this, but I am certainly hoping that the game has the same feeling of impact that RDR2 had. Either the game is going to be huge or a flop, only two ways a new GTA can go. Difficult expectations with this one.
Maybe I should finally get around to playing 5 lol. Happy for those that enjoy it hopefully it exceeds everyone's expectations and raises the bar!
Yawn, probably just a trailer with release still 3-4 years out. Hopefully I’m wrong but I doubt it will come anytime soon.
Lol this is such a hipster site. Judging by the comments, you'd think nobody likes GTA, Fortnite, Call of Duty, FIFA etc.
Anywhoo, Rockstar have to deal with probably the highest expectations of any game developer in the history of this industry. I hope they're ready.
I really didn’t like Grand Theft Auto 5, so I will probably pass the 6th game by. However, if it’s more like GTA 4 that would be a different story because I thought that was an awesome game and probably my personal favourite title in the series to date!
After over a decade... the time has come boys!!!
@paulbuck1996 Rockstar is more than one studio though. Rockstar North in Scotland makes the GTA games, Rockstar San Diego in the US makes RDR for example.
A plane flies over Miami. A boat speeds up a river. A helicopter swoops low over a busy road. A car drifts around a corner...
The title hits...
The Fast and Furious 19
Or maybe it's...
GTA 6
I'm still excited, kind of, but very much scared it's going to be a shell of what it once was. I bet this is basically the trailer though 😁
It's been so long, another Rockstar game... Finally.
12 Years after the GTA 5 trailer dropped.
Its finally happening.
if you think this game won’t have a bottom tier story , you’re kidding yourself . this won’t be like the GTAs that made this franchise popular . most likely gonna be modern saints row .
@Triumph741 rockstar sucks, they barely release games anymore .
@nomither6 considering how many times we've seen heavyweight developers go from amazing masterpieces to downright disastrous these past few years, you've no idea how right you are 😔
@N8_YT I completely forgot that they had a few studios
@Bionic-Spencer I didn't mind the washed up Michael bits, and some of the early stuff, but by god, the middle of that game was such a slog and got so randomly unrealistic so fast. Way too much FIB and random spy/assassin sh*t, and the heists were insanely boring to set up for no reward. Bank robbers stealing a f*cking submarine and a weird EMP or bomb or whatever the f*** it was from a PMC 😅
GTA 4 was their last complete story that really felt like it had the true spirit of GTA, in a more grounded criminal setting.
Once upon a time,I'd eagerly look for every bit of pre release news on a Rockstar release....but after efforts like the GTA "Definitive edition remaster" trilogy,& the functional, but unspectacular & overpriced RDR 1 remaster, just view any GTA VI announcements with a wait for the second shoe to drop approach.
With the likes of Dan Houser & Lazlow long departed now, will we still even see a substantial single player story mode? Or will they go the Diablo IV approach & force everyone online to enforce those mtx? My initial enjoyment of GTA V's story wore down with it's share market driven tutorials which led towards the online mode's sjark cards to buy any properties & ever changing prices online. 😑
Nevermind the humour of the ps2 era games with Lazlow,Fernando etc.,& over the top 80's/90's atmosphere & superb soundtracks back then. Modern day Take-two directed Rockstar has become the very souless corporate company they used to poke fun at!😕
I can’t wait for this. I absolutely love the GTA series. Really looking forward to seeing what Rockstar have done.
@Ravix Yep, that just about sums my feelings up too! 😄
@Skylines81 I would love to know what games you play, I'm assuming you don't play any games that you kill someone? Also in most games with guns you are a mass murderer, Nathan Drake has probably killed millions across all games 🤷
Bring it on, I'm itching for another L.A. Noire game though, to me the setting and mysterious sounds they used was really good.
@GuyInDirtyShirt Years of trailers is what we've had in the past
Hope they changed, but I wouldn't bank on it. My money's on 2025.
Guns: Bad
Mario throwing fire balls at turtles and jumping on their heads: Good
I'm going to guess this releases in September 2024 given the whole thing about gigantic Rockstar profits in the fiscal year April 2024 - March 2025.
This almost feels like a joke. Gta 6 is like half life 3 we just keep speculating they are making it. Looking forward to the first official trailer though.
Can't bloody wait. Love Rockstar trailers.
@Skylines81 I mean, most GTA playthroughs are neutral or good aligned, it's designed so you are only supposed to attack "the bad guys" like nearly every game ever, from Ratchet and Clank to The Legend of Zelda 😅
GTA gets it's own special mention because people can choose to harm innocents and it sells about 100+million copies (which also applies to Zelda tbf, those poor, poor Koroks) But GTA is basically just a big crime movie in game form.
But I guess you know that, having created an account specifically to post on the GTA article 👍👍👍
@Skylines81 or the short answer.
Because (most) people are capable of separating fiction from reality. And GTA isn't actually a murder sim, it's an homage to great crime fiction and a huge satire of the s*** society that the people playing it actually live in 👍
@Skylines81 basically, look at the real world. This is why GTA is like it is. It is a satire and parody of real life.
If anything, if you actually take in any of the games messages, you will soon see that GTA itself is very much anti everything included in GTA and that sometimes goes way over people's heads. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be made.
I agree, it is a lot better when there is a more grounded crime story, which is usually a story of someone trying to fight out of a bad situation, being held down by the society they live in, and using established criminals to actually get out of that life. And it has become a lot more throw away with GTA online being just mass idiocy, but at its core, to me, GTA will always be crime movie and satire of life. Not "hurr hurr, I want to kill stuff cos I'm a *****"
@Skylines81 also, we're replying out of sync 😅
I do kind of agree with you, but I also know you don't really think that this game is just that. Or at least, it never used to be. (I can't speak for the online stuff, as I have zero interest in that garbage, which probably is just kids trying to kill each other, like in CoD etc)
Guess we're find out the release date of horizon 3 lol
@Skylines81 oh, it's not going to be as good. But the main characters in GTA games are not typically "bad guys" they don't even want to have to kill in most cases, it is usually protecting themselves, their family in most cases. And being drawn into situations where they are being hunted by crime bosses etc, and they are trying to survive.
If the police are after you, nothing in the game says, well now you have to kill them all. You simply have to escape and hide. So it does come down to player choice. But narratively, they aren't really all that murdery.
And yes, most of my replies on this site usually include some tongue in cheek element. The Koroks are an example of that 😅 But it does kind of stand, in a weird way. If you can separate fiction from reality, then a being in a fantasy world is the same as a being in a game based on the real world. Both mean as much as each other in their respective worlds.
This is why games like The Witcher 3 are fantastic, because despite being a monster hunter, your character really does not like killing, and everything is not black and white, and there are consequences for your actions.
Red Dead Redemption is much better than GTA 5 narratively, but you still end up killing hundreds of criminals that are coming for you. And you can, if you for some reason choose to, murder people. And it is probably even more likely you are killing lawmen in RDR, than police in GTA, as narratively it is more acceptable for the outlaw to have to do so.
Wow…just…wow this is gonna be so big… again…
@Hello-Friend ….now you’re thinking with Portals!
Saying a prayer to the Single Player Gods right now...
I predict that people will instantly hate and complain about whatever is in the trailer regardless of whether it's great or not.
@playstation1995 Yeah just need Pritchard to start hitting some 3’s as well!
@Atreus97
It's cool to hate popular things.
I'm ready for 6. I enjoyed 5 but did not enjoy 4; thought it was boring and I don't like the NYC maps. Too small and tight. I did not play Ballad of Gay Tony or much of the Motorcycle gang one so no opinion on those.
I think the lack of 6 being mentioned and the next grand theft auto instead seems to suggest they might drop the numbering system.
They could probably get away with simply calling it Grand Theft Auto and establishing it as a platform going forward, similar to Fortnite.
I am looking forward to it though, Rockstar usually release their games in a solid playable state and an excellent game to play.
@Ravix GTA 4 is repetitive AF tho. I think that the success of GTA V is proof that creativity and variety are more important that groundedness.
@nomither6 Rockstar may not release a lot of games anymore, but they release the best games so I can't complain. Especially when the rest of the industry is releasing crap like Horizon and AC.
@sword_9mm if it’s cool to hate popular things then why is GTA4 hated ?
not true
4 was the first gta I bought and I did enjoy it. All the ps2 ones I played in friends basements and loved vice city. But I never played the story we were just messing around in the game. I think I almost finished 4, but barely played 5 on my ps3. It just became boring and the same thing. Definitely never played the online stuff. My favourite rockstar game is The Warriors. I don’t think this new gta is gonna impress me much, dunno
ITS BEEN 84YEARSSS lolll.. wow.. lets see this already
Honestly all I want from GTA is a well polished tense gripping single player campaign, that doesn't last only 5 or 6 hours. A quality main for 25+ hours and a further 10 to 15+ on interesting side things during or after main is finished, like expanding rampage side missions into more engaging side missions rather than just shooting waves of enemies as an example. Its obviously become a massive multiplayersausagefest for a decade now which is something that doesn't interest me all that much. I'll try its mp at least but only if the campaign is good and well worth it to begin with
This guarantees will premiere at the Game Awards in early December then, it’ll just be more of the same anyway though won’t it? And still sell millions and millions and millions of copy’s like COD does.
I wonder if they’ve toned the game down at all for the current world, I hope not, I hope they’ve made it even more gritty!
Wake me when the trailer is out. Then we can talk.
Who cares about GTA 6? Come on Rockstar, we all really want Table Tennis 2 😁
I heard it's going to be about vice city but don't quote me on that.
I haven't touched my PS5 in almost a year... losing interest TBH, but this game right here might bring me back.
Please don't release as just a digital game. Make it a physical game too.
